The duo Salim and Sulaiman Merchant were on the sets of The Kapil Sharma show for the Independence Day special episode. The singer and composer Salim-Sulaiman shared little known inside stories of their career.The ace music composers walked in singing the song from Chak De India. The song is filled with motivation and the zeal to work hard. Kapil Sharma said that this song shares the feelings of common man beautifully.

During the rendezvous with Kapil Sharma the duo shared how they created the music for the movie Chak De India. They said when they read the script they felt that this movie needs an impactful title song. After going through all their songs none of the song was apt and Salim lost hope for finding the right song. Then Sulaiman the elder one told him that ‘koshish karte hai, kuch karte hai’. And that's how the idea for the song “Kuch Kariye” came. Salim added “Then we immediately contacted Jaideep Sahni, who is the writer of this film, who helped us with kuch kariye… kuch kariye… nas nas meri khole. And rest as they say is history!”

When Kapil asked about their strong bond and brotherhood. Salim said that they got into a fight over some silly reason and didn’t talk for almost five long years. Since then they have been together Sulaiman added.When questioned about why Salim didn't try acting since he is good looking. He told him that when he saw a few singers and composers trying their hands on acting he chose to stick to his profession.

Sulaiman shared an incident when he was travelling someone mistook him as Imran Khan the cricketer. 

The duo added the soul to the evening and made it memorable.
