Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, who's currently in South Africa for the BRICS Summit congratulated the scientists and said "When we see such historical moments it makes us very proud. This is the sunrise of recent India."

India's Moon venture Chandrayaan-3 touched down at the lunar south pole at 6.04 pm. The lander module comprising the lander (Vikram) and the 26-kg rover (Pragyan) made the tender landing near the south polar place of the Moon at 6.04 pm, much less than a week after a comparable Russian lander crashed.
